Anime Eyecatch* is an opportunity for DMS students to experience the fun and excitement of Japanese animation (Anime). Anime has gained increasing popularity in the United States over the past several years and is quite unique from Western animation in content and character design as well as in drawing and animation techniques. Not only does Anime differ significantly from Western animation, but it varies greatly from artist to artist and studio to studio. As a result, there is much to appreciate and explore in the art form with regards to artistic design and cultural perceptions in addition to its entertainment value.
Anime Eyecatch is a group that meets weekly to view anime from a number of genres including action, drama, comedy, romance, and science fiction. Each week’s showing will be announced through the BGSO listserv. Come meet other DMS students and enjoy some anime!
* Eyecatch: noun, an image or very short bit of animation inserted in the middle of an episode. Anime eyecatch is an excellent, short break from labwork.
